The Duck Nest

The Duck Nest

The UO Duck Nest, a student-run health and wellness center on UO’s campus, was the client my J454 (Public Relations Campaigns) class created mini campaign plans for. Groups were each given a specific audience to target by our professor — my group was assigned to UO faculty and staff. The goal of our campaign was to increase faculty/staff’s awareness of the Duck Nest and get them to refer students to it as a resource. Mini-plans were presented to the client at the end of the term.

“Student Guidebook” by the Duck Nest

The purpose of the “Student Guidebook” was to get faculty/staff more familiar with what their students are like outside of the classroom setting, remind them of the struggles students face and give them more information about the Duck Nest. Our group hoped to show that the Duck Nest understands the student experience which would help it gain credibility amongst faculty/staff members. We hoped that this could be distributed to faculty/staff mailboxes and be emailed out.

“Day-in-the-life” Videos

Another way we wanted to show faculty/staff what students’ lives are like was by creating student day-in-the-life videos that could be posted on social media, specifically on Instagram stories or reels. Should the Duck Nest actually use this idea, getting faculty/staff to film their own day-in-the-life videos would also be ideal in the future for students to watch. Check out sample videos made by my team members Megan and Portia below!

Memes

For more lighthearted content, our group also came up with memes that could be posted on social media. Something that both students and faculty/staff have experienced is Zoom school, so we chose to highlight that shared experience in our memes showing both sides.

This is the slide deck I made for our group’s final project presentation. It covered our audience research, strategy, implementation materials and next steps we recommend.
