Make-A-Wish San Diego
During the summer of 2021, I was a remote Media and Communications intern at Make-A-Wish San Diego, a non-profit that grants life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. My larger projects, which can be found below, revolved around wish kid Valerie’s wish to be a princess for a day.

I created this slideshow to thank Valerie’s wish donors and strengthen their connection to Make-A-Wish. The process involved hand-picking photos, choosing appropriate background music, sticking to a princess theme and adhering to Make-A-Wish’s brand guidelines.
— Social Media Post: Valerie’s Wish —
To accompany the slideshow, I was also responsible for Valerie’s social media post which would highlight her wish on Make-A-Wish San Diego’s profiles. I wrote the caption and selected photos that would tell the story of Valerie’s wish day to followers.
Caption: “During her difficult time at the hospital, Valerie liked to dress up as a princess and watch princess movies,” said Valerie’s mom. “Valerie would imagine that she was in a castle, and she was the princess. She would do her makeup, paint her nails, and wear her princess dress mostly every day.” 👑💫
When 9-year-old Valerie met with her wish granters at Make-A-Wish San Diego, she asked if she could become a real-life princess. With the generous support from the Jacobs family and the hospitality provided by the @ranchovalencia Resort & Spa, we were able to make Valerie's royal wish a reality. Valerie's wish day included a princess photoshoot, a garden tea party with her family, and a night's stay at the @ranchovalencia. One of Valerie's favorite moments of the day was when she first saw herself in a mirror dressed as a princess and said, "I look so beautiful".
